The Award That Came From You

Harwell School

This week, BusinessRate notified us that Harwell School of Oregon City had been named Best of 2026 Oregon City Preschool based on online reviews.

There is a particular, beautiful magic to the quiet moments in a classroom just after the front door closes and the last little backpack is zipped. The cubbies settle, the paint jars sit capped on the low shelves, and the room holds its breath until tomorrow. It was in that exact stillness that word reached us.

This recognition didn't arrive through an application form or the quiet lobbying of a committee. It came from somewhere far more sacred: the late-night thoughts of parents, tapping out their gratitude into phones in dark rooms after long days. It is a People's Choice honor built entirely from the unfiltered, unprompted words of families sharing their real lives.

When we stopped looking at the numbers and started reading the sentences, the true portrait of our school came rushing into focus.

Listen to what one family chose to leave behind for the world to see:

"Harwell has been a blessing for our daughter. Miss Emily and Miss Renee are so wonderful to interact with and they communicate everything with us about our daughter throughout the day on procare. Our daughter has done great with the curriculum and loves her teachers. Highly recommend Harwell school."

And another:

"we have been absolutely pleased with Harwell and more than that my son absolutely adores his teachers and classmates. The curriculum is fantastic and his growth has really shown."

Reading through these, you realize that what makes a place extraordinary isn't found in a grand theory. It lives in the small, tender way the world is held together here:

The enduring power of a name: Teachers like Miss Emily and Miss Renee, who become woven into the daily wonder of a child's expanding universe.

The small miracle of a digital ping: A Procare update that crosses the distance of a workday, bringing a sudden, deep exhale to a parent wondering how their little one is doing.

The quiet unfurling of confidence: A curriculum that doesn't just fill minds, but gently coaxes out a child's eagerness to try, to belong, and to grow.

This recognition is simply the echo of the trust we share. It is the accumulated weight of a hundred small kindnesses: a comforting hand on a shoulder at drop-off, a messy craft proudly carried to a car seat, a community choosing to look out for one another.

If you are a mother or father sitting at your kitchen table tonight, staring at a browser full of tabs and wondering where your child will be safe and known, do not rely on polished ads. Go read the reviews. Look for the honest, unvarnished stories left by other parents who were once right where you are sitting now.

We aren't changing who we are because of a title. We are simply waking up tomorrow to do what we have always loved doing: throwing open the doors, welcoming your children inside, and tending to the quiet magic of the everyday.
